WMP11 & DVD playback in Vista Beta2

Downloaded and installed Windows Vista Beta2 yesterday(5 hrs). Install went smooth. But, playing back a DVD movie in WMP11, results in very low sound and a white video screen. I thought that maybe it was the need for some sort of DVD drivers so, I followed a link in Help to NVidia's website and download a 30 Day trial of their DVD drivers. Those installed fine. BUT, still no Video(white Screen) and the extremely low audio. (almost none existant) On bootup of Vista the Windows Start Sound is Loud so I know the audio drivers are installed correctly. Any suggestions or are the DVD drivers from NVidia to blame? james aka:Trucker

Have you installed the display drivers from NVIDIA, or just the DVD drivers? You might install the display drivers and see if that fixes your problem.

Try downloading or installing a DVD player - as long as the codecs are on your system, it should work.

For the 1st time MS are including MPEG2 decoder codecs in the OS so you don't need 3rd party MPEG2 decoders which you usually get with your DVD drive in order to watch DVD movies.
So you shouldn't need to go an download 3rd party MPEG2 decoders.
But
you should probably try upgrading your video drivers.
Cheers

I have the beta Vista drivers from Nvidia for my 7800GT installed.
I also own (from my XP install) the Nvidia PureVideo DVD codec which worked fine in XP under Media Player 11.
Now with Vista I get the "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a problem occurred with digital copyright protection." It doesn't matter if I have PureVideo loaded or not, I still get the same error. DVD's just won't play on my system now that Vista Beta 2 is installed.

Tried updating my Video Card Drivers ( NVidia GForce2) and it said they were up to date. I can get sound just fine. But, again, the video is nothing but a White block either in the player or full-screen. Oh well, at least a few other things work. Thanks for the suggestions! james aka:Trucker

I am experiencing the same problem. I use PowerDVD with my XP installation and I have some audio DVD's that I play in media player, so I know it works, but they won't play in Vista. I am able to load DVD's that have been ripped to my hard drive, but I can't click on any of the DVD menu options, so I can't start the movie. I would use PowerDVD with Vista but it isn't working with my integrated audio, so all I am getting is a stereo signal.

PowerDVD and WMP11 neither one will play a DVD on my laptop, both claiming problem with copyright protection. However, VideoLAN's VLC media player, which I originally had to use on my PPC 6700, plays DVD's just fine. Go figure. I've updated every driver I can so I don't know where to go from here. Good luck.

Same problem here Dell Latitude D800 Nvidia 4200 Go. All I get is a white box and low audio. The video driver was updated by windows update (i think it was anyway)
